Dining Room Brass Chiavari “Bat-Chairs” Get a make-Over

Whew!  Holidays with kids are so much fun, but also draining.  I’m getting back into the swing of things with an update on the DIY update I mentioned for the vintage brass Italian Chiavari chairs I put in the dining room with our DIY live edge table and vintage Herman Miller shell chairs (yes, those are the real deal) with new walnut bases from Modern Conscience.

Here’s a look at them before with the non-original red seats:

LOVE the red.  Seriously thought about going back to the original style of red velvet, but these are statement chairs and I found something that I think is a little more “statement-y”.

While shopping with Cora, my 2-year-old, (her favorite Cora-parent date activity), we found a “bathroom rug” at Home Goods.  Adorably, Cora called the white faux-sheep skin rug a “horsie” rug.

Recovering chair seats is the easiest re-upholstery job out there.  Typically, you just unscrew the seat from the chair and staple new material on.  Sometimes you need to remove the material first, but in this case, I didn’t.

Now that’s a statement…

It’s time for some spring dining table styling, but here you really get to see how the chairs make their statement.

What do you think of the transformation?
