You know that my daughters have a beautiful princess wardrobe that includes an Elsa coronation gown, but we opted for the store-bought ice gown since the Disney Store happened to have one in my daughter’s size when I stopped by to pick up something else. When I saw what Remodelicious reader, Hayley, made for her granddaughter, I just had to share the beautiful homemade version that I know melted little Elsa’s Abbie’s heart.
Hayley doesn’t have a sewing machine, so for those of you who need the inspiration to get out there and make your little Elsa a gown without a machine & on a budget, this post is for you!

I don’t have a sewing machine so everything was done by hand. I used a long sleeved white t-shirt and the fabric for the top came from a thrift/charity store – it was a ladies blouse! The fabric for the cape came from Ebay and for the skirt, my local fabric store. I also made an extra cape with leftover fabric for those times when she doesn’t want to wear the whole costume!
I stitched the fabric from the ladies blouse onto the white -shirt and also stitched the fabric for the skirt (it has elastic in the waistband) and a couple of other little bits but I don’t have a sewing machine so everything was done by hand! 🙂
I love a resourceful grandmother who can make a little girl’s Frozen dreams come true! Isn’t this a great homemade version for those without a sewing machine?
